Hello All,

After a long absence due to being really busy (no excuse!) here's an illustration I did some time ago (Acrylic and color pencils on paper) It's a portrait of my beautiful great grandmother Elena Lecuna de Urdaneta a.k.a Mamáma, as in three times a mother, an outstanding mother that is. She is wearing that breath-taking swan dress from Givenchy Haute Couture-Spring 2011. I hope you enjoy it and believe the promise that I will be more diligent with posting art more often!

McQueen Painting - First Stages

This is a painting I've been working on for quite some time. I wanted to do something in the Flemish style with a twist, so I am using Alexander McQueen dresses. This is in one of the first stages where everything is in grey tones and needs to look like the figures are lit only by moonlight... I will start applying color soon! I'll keep you posted ;)

Hello Everyone! I'm truly sorry for the lack of posting! I've been quite busy trying to put together a fashion business (!?!?!?!?) So illustration projects have been a little bit in the back burner, but I'm back! Hello there! hope you are all doing well...As some of you may know this is the cover for the Fall collections supplement in Vogue Russia, in honor to the late genius Alexander Mc Queen. I wanted to share it with you because this collection is the inspiration of a painting I have been working on. These pieces stroke a cord not only because they were so breathtaking and full of mystery and historical references but also because we got to see it soon after the tragic loss of its creator. Here I leave you with this haunting yet beautiful image of one of the looks of Mc Queen's Fall brilliancy.

"The Chinatown Triptic" - Part Une

This piece is part of a trio of paintings called "The Chinatown Triptic", it depicts girls walking around Chinatown galleries in Los Angeles and having internal thoughts about the art they were looking at. I tried to depict that feeling when you walk through an exhibition and you get that floating like sensation, it is such a musical moment, difficult to explain.

Hello Everybody! Summer is officially here and I am beyond excited! I thrive for weekends at the beach, rosé wine, tapas afternoons and...Gazpacho! haha, this spanish tomato/cucumber cold drink/soup is summer in a cup! I wish I could spend this summer in Spain like I did a couple of years ago, but I have to say that Los Angeles ain't too bad either!

So here you have it! My obsession Miss Lara Stone seductively drinking a glass of the God juice and flaunting an opulent Lanvin necklace from Spring/Summer 2010. I've never done jewelry, but I really like how this came out! I hope you enjoy it! Now if my post just gave you an insatiable thirst for gazpacho, here's a recipe taken from allrecipes.com so you can try it this weekend!

Ingredients

3/4 green bell pepper, seeded
1/2 cucumber, peeled and sliced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 cup olive oil
2 day-old crusty bread rolls, cut into thick slices
6 tomatoes, peeled and quartered
1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/4 teaspoon olive oil

Directions

Blend the green bell pepper, cucumber, garlic, and 1/2 cup olive oil together in a blender until smooth. Add the bread slices to the blender one at a time and blend each into the mixture until smooth. Blend the tomatoes into the mixture one at a time until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a bowl; season with salt and cayenne pepper. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon olive oil to serve.

Hello Everyone! It's been quite some time but I'm happy to present you this painting! It's an Oil on wood I did for the exhibit I had back in March and I'm really fond of it. It took a lot of work to give it the vibe that I wanted to, but I think it paid off! I really like how it came out! As you can see she's also wearing a Yare mask like my painting of Daul Kim "Dancing Devils of Daul" I'm somehow really attracted to the symbolism behind these masks and I guess I have this patriotic connection to it. I hope you enjoy it! A print of this painting might end up in the ETSY store I've been meaning to put together for so long! This weekend folks! I promise!!

Looking Forward - Untitled

Hello Everybody! Wow, it's been a long time! I spent some good quality time in Venezuela, and now I'm back in Los Angeles ready to get some work out there! I had such a good time (even though the main reason I went was to get oral surgery-don't ask) and it definitely freshen up some of the ideas I've been having for the last months. This painting "Untitled" is Oil and color pencils on Wood, and the original now resides with my wonderful father in Caracas. I've always had a knack for drawing profiles, I don't really know why, but this is a perfect example of that. Hope you like it!!!

I will soon be opening an Etsy Store to sell some prints, give me a shout out if there is anything you like in particular and I will print :)

Caballo Viejo!

This a screen I made for some T-Shirts! They turned out pretty good considering I burned and printed them myself (not recommended) But it is kind of an idea I've been playing for a while, "Caballo Viejo" means "Old Horse" and it's a popular folkloric song from my country (Venezuela) and the tentative name for a capsule collection of a clothing line I want to put together, eek! The face in this drawing is the lovely model Jessica Stam...hope you like it!

So this is a digital illustration I did of Agyness Deyn some time ago! I think she has such an interesting face, but I keep wondering where has she been hiding these past seasons? I was looking through my old magazines and kinda forgot what an insane phenomenon she was! HUGE! I know she's been around here and there, but nothing really like when she broke...This is such a fast industry I think, always makes me a little anxious, anywho...hope you had a wonderful Easter! Hello There! So here is the painting that was used for the Art Opening flyer. It's a painting of the disappeared Korean Model Daul Kim. She is carrying a "Yare Devil" mask, which is a folkloric religious festivity originated in Venezuela. I really liked how this one came out! I got a really nice response from it, it seems to connect with people at some level, and of course that's wonderful!
